Benefit - Some Kinda Gorgeous Foundation Review

When coming back through duty free last month, I stumbled across Benefit's Some Kinda Gorgeous. It should probably tell you a lot about my knowledge of beauty products that I hadn't seen it before, since googling it it seems like it's actually been out for quite a while!

Anyway, Some Kinda Gorgeous is a cream to powder foundation available in three different shades. I bought it for both of those reasons; firstly, the shade thing is a bit odd for me as products almost NEVER colour match me. No matter how hard I try, the palest shade is always completely wrong. However, this product actually perfectly colour matched me, to the extent that my friend probably thought I was mad as he watched me spolodge it on to random parts of my hands and arms to make sure that it really did match as well as I thought it did.

Secondly, the fact that it's cream to powder really appealed to me; I don't wear foundation very much at all. I don't like the feel of it and I feel no matter how hard I try to blend it, it's always super obvious to me. If I'm working a night shift so I know I'm going to be looking a bit rough (to put it mildly) by the morning or I'm going out somewhere special, then I'll wear a powder foundation. (GOSH, if you're wondering) I thought that this would probably work along those lines, though with slightly better coverage.

The product comes with one sponge...
And the product itself!

Here you go after the elusive first finger test; so you can see just how creamy it is!

Alright, that's all well and good, but how well does it work?

I found that this applies really easily. At first I was worried because it didn't look like I was getting much on the sponge at all, but actually it turned out I was getting too much on and needed to experiment for a bit to get it right. I found that for the most part it does go on really easily. A lot of the complaints I read from reading other reviews about this product were saying that it doesn't have good coverage - it IS a light product, however I felt that actually it did even out my skin tone and it did cover up my smaller red marks, and did so more than the usual powders I use. Of course, if you want lots of coverage, a liquid foundation is the way to go, but if you're like me and you don't like the feel or look of a regular foundation then you'll probably get what you want out of this product.

One complaint though; if you have even slightly dry skin, this product will really make a point out of it. This is something that really does need to be worn with moisturiser or primer underneath. I don't normally bother but with this, the second I put it onto my cheeks it would begin immediately flaking up - and I don't actually have dry skin, so if you do I imagine it would be a nightmare! If I put on moisturiser it helped so long as I did it immediately before, however I do worry about the lastability of this because of this reason if you like to keep your make up on all day. For me I only use it when I want it on for a couple of hours, as I'm the sort of person who manages to get a spot just from standing too near to makeup so I don't want to risk it!

You can buy Some Kinda Gorgeous from Benefit for £24.50, here.

Have you tried this product? What did you think?
