La Mer Cleansing Micellar Water Review, & a House of Fraser Beauty Wishlist!

La Mer Cleansing Micellar Water

Beauty products have been something that are very much on my mind recently. There are a few amazing new palettes out, and as I'm going to America next week I've been super excited trying to look up what I can get from Sephora and other stores that are unavailabe or too expensive for me over here right now. On a closer to home note, House of Fraser currently have an event going on where they are offering £10 off when you spend £50 on beauty products. Therefore, I decided that now was the perfect time to take a look through and try out some of the higher end products I'd been thinking of buying, as well as make a mini wishlist of some of the other products available that I'd love to give a try!

The product I've been giving a try is La Mer - The Cleansing Micellar Water (£65)*. I wasn't sure what to expect with this product as I've tried similar products before and have never really got much benefit out of them. At best, some of them have been okay, but ultimately not worth the time of applying them or just not really beneficial to use. I'd also not tried La Mer products before, as I'm a bit wary of trying higher priced brands that I don't know too much about - however, isn't that the whole point of a sale like this?!

This product is advertised as a powerful sea cleanser which sweeps away impurities and pollutants, micro-emulsifies makeup, and delivers hydration.

My first impression of the product was that it came in absolutely lovely packaging. I love the shades, the packaging is good quality, sturdy, and just really feels like a luxury product. The same is true of the bottle itself - clear, simple, and yet very luxurious. The bottle is 200ml which is a really good size - it's a huge bottle, and you'll definitely be able to get a lot of use out of it.

The product has an absolutely beautiful scent to it as well - it's very fresh and a little bit sweet. It's a very feminine and soft scent that does stick around for a little while - luckily both my boyfriend and myself really liked it!

Using the product is very simple - place some on your make up remover pads and run it over your face until the pads come back clean. It doesn't take long at all!

I was surprised by just how well this product worked. When I tested it, I wasn't feeling very optimistic at all. I'd just come home from work, I'd only had about two hours sleep last night and it had been a hot day so the water had quite a lot to work with. However, using this product really does make a big difference very quickly. After using it, my skin felt much fresher. I didn't wash my face after using it or add any sort of moisturiser or other product, and then tested it again around one hour later. My skin still felt lovely and soft, but more than anything felt very hydrated as well. This surprised me, as my skin really was NOT having a good day. In terms of make up removal, I used two pads to remove it. I don't wear very much make up, but I do wear some notoriously stubborn mascara - no problem! After two pads my skin came back clean, and after a third to fully go over and make sure I wasn't missing anything I was feeling very satisfied with this product.

Apparently, over time, using this product frequently can do all sorts of good for your skin. Over time your skin continues to strengthen and renew as the product moves deeper within your skin - of course, I can't comment on this yet as I haven't been using it anywhere near long enough to be able to confirm or deny this report. However, I'm planning a post in a month or two where I look back over some products I did first reviews on and update you on how well they've all been holding up - so I'll update you all on it then!

If you'd like to buy your own, you can pick it up from House of Fraser here! If it's not quite your thing, take a look at the rest of the sale here - and if you're still lacking some inspiration, see below for my wish list of a few more items currently available in the sale.

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette - £38.50
I absolutely love my Naked 2 Basics palette and it is one of the two palettes that I use the most frequently - the other being my MAC purples! For whatever reason, the rest of the Naked collection hasn't appealed all that much to me as I just don't feel they are going to offer me anything I don't already have, however this palette is one that I am VERY tempted by. I love the greys and the pinks and I can definitely see myself making a lot of use of a palette like this on evenings out.

Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder - £29
Believe it or not, I actually don't own a setting powder! I've tried Laura Mercier products before and had good luck with them, but I haven't actively seeked to buy anything new in a while. I hear a lot of great things about this powder though, and I'd be very excited to give it a try myself!

Benefit Ka-Brow! Eyebrow Cream-Gel Colour - £18.50
I've been a long time fan of Benefit products and I was so excited when all of their brow products came out. However, as of yet I haven't actually purchased anything from it! I still need to go and give them a try myself in person as I just don't have a clue which colour is going to actually match my eyebrows but I definitely need to get on with giving these products a try.

Lanc├┤me Energie De Vie Sleeping Mask 75ml - £42
I am a big fan of sleeping masks. I find that the effects you get off of them are just SO much better than products you apply during the day, and as Lancome are such a big name for creating great skincare products I imagine this one will be a great one. Lancome state that this plumps up your skin moisture in ten minutes and leaves your skin feeling softer, looking fresher, and visibly smoother.

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base - £40
I have never actually tried a Bobbi Brown product before, although I've been tempted multiple times. This is a moisturiser that contains Shea Butter to help minimise the look of lines and wrinkles and is rich feeling but not at all greasy. I'll be honest, I was tempted just from the name - the idea of something being vitamin enriched really appeals to me! I know a few people who would love to get this as a gift, and I'm wondering if I should be one of those people who starts buying their Christmas presents super early and get them one of these...!

Benefit They're Real Mascara - £19.50
Of course, my all time favourite beauty product has to get a mention. I LOVE this mascara. I have made multiple posts about just how much I love this mascara, and it consistently features in product empties posts because I just adore it. It is the only product that, as soon as I unbox it, I order a new one straight away to make sure I never run out!

These products and more are all available at House of Fraser. If you'd like to get them while the offer is still running, be quick as it ends on Sunday!

  3. I'd never spend that much on beauty products but then I'm really not into them at all, I know nothing about them haha! Maybe I should! They all look like great products though.

  5. I'm still too nervous to commit that much money to a single product, I can't wait until after my wedding and I have a bit more spare cash! :)
